There is an Amazing and Gorgeous River that stretches from Eleven Mile Canyon Reservoir to Twin Cedars, Colorado. It’s the South Platte River and it’s really easy to get to from Denver and Colorado Springs.
It starts out at Eleven Mile Canyon Reservoir, where the river is narrow and cascading down over rocks as it nears the town of Lake George, Colorado.
All of the videos were taken with the GoPro Hero 8 Black.

North of Lake George, Colorado, the river slows down some but is still fascinating and breathtaking before it makes it’s long trek to Deckers, Colorado.
From Deckers, on to Twin Cedars, Colorado, the river is winding and moving fast at time, yet slow and gentle in other locations.
You can access the river from a road that follows most of the river and offers incredible natural Rocky Mountain scenery around every corner. This is one of the easiest rivers to get to quickly from Denver or Colorado Springs and I highly recommend it for one of your first visits to Colorado.
You can see the video below that covers sections of the river from Eleven Mile Canyon Reservoir to just past the town of Twin Cedars. It’s a relaxing and beautiful river to watch and listen to.

The area surrounding the South Platte river in Colorado looks absolutely beautiful from the photographs and should be ideal for a hiking trip. Is there a hiking trail that runs next to the river that one can listen to the river flowing while you are walking? Or is it better to maybe do a canoe or kayak trip down the river? Or maybe white water rafting or is the river not big enough for that? I would be interested to hear your advise.
There are some hiking trails that intercept certain sections of the river but not one that goes along it. A road parallels most of the river so it’s easy to get to and enjoy.
I have talked to some people who have floated parts of the river but the main river to float in this area of Colorado is the Arkansas River.
I would love to hear if you have any more questions.
